Insomnium Games offers a free Java chat for anyone interested in playing Abeo online. Game times can be scheduled on the forum.
There are rules that you have to adhere to when using this chat. These rules aren't intended to pull a fast one on our players, but to cover our butts in an increasingly litigious environment. If the rules seem draconian or arcane, they have to be. Trust us. If there is any question as to whether an action or discussion will violate these rules, either ask us (through email or chat) or simply don't do it.
By entering the Insomnium Games chat room, you hereby agree to abide by the following terms and conditions. These terms and conditions are subject to change without notice, so be certain to read them every time you enter the chat-ignorance of the rules may be an excuse, but it's not one that works. By participating in these chats or voluntarily submitting material or ideas, you agree to release Insomnium Games and its employees, volunteers, and associates from any liability for any situation which arises from the chat, except as prohibited by law.
- All chatters must be aged 16 years or older. Insomnium Games' works are for mature players only.
- Solicitation or advertisement of any type is strictly forbidden within the Insomnium Games chat rooms. Refusal to abide by this rule will result in banning and ISP notification.
- Insomnium Games keeps a transcript of all chats that will be referred to in the event of a problem. As such, should you have a problem with another player online we ask that you Save the conversation and email it with an explanation of what happened and a time. Problem players will be banned. Big Brother is watching, so behave.
- Do not post, promote or distribute illegal material. If this rule comes as a surprise, leave. Now.
- Do not harass, threaten or otherwise antagonize another chatter. This includes talking to a chatter who isn't interested in talking. Just in case you need a (non-exhaustive) list, do not attack a player (or character's) race, gender, national origin, ethnicity, family structure, income, disabilities, religion (or lack thereof), sexual orientation, or hair color. The distinction between a character's prejudices and in-character speech and real, honest-to-God hate speech is often a fine one. Give the border a wide berth and we'll get along fine.
- Don't flood the room. This includes meaningless text and hitting the enter key repeatedly. Flooders and spammers will be banned when caught. To report someone doing this please Save the conversation and send it with an explanation and the time it occured.
- At no time will an employee from Insomnium Games (or anywhere else, for that matter) ask you for your passwords, credit card information, or anything else personal. If anyone suspicious requests that information please immediately bring it to the moderators attention and we will report it. When bringing it to our attention, give the time and day the scene occured.
- We reserve the right to remove any material or individual from the chat, temporarily or permanently, for any reason.
- We reserve the right to share any and all information from our servers with legal authorities or law enforcement officials, as well as with an offender's ISP. By using our chat room, you agree to this disclosure policy.
- Any information transmitted through our server regarding any Insomnium Game becomes the property of Insomnium Games; Insomnium Games is free to use, modify or repeat this information as it deems necessary.
- Don't try to stretch these rules or try to get around them. That's just irritating, and we'll probably ban you out of spite.
